‘Sobada’ Womb massage

A SACRED INVITATION TO RECONNECT WITH YOUR FEMININE TEMPLE

Your womb is more than a physical organ — it is a vessel of intuition, creation, and ancestral memory. It holds the rhythms of the Earth, the echoes of your lineage, and the power to create, transform, and feel deeply.

Through gentle, intentional touch, Sobada womb massage invites you into a journey of softening, awakening, and remembering.

What is ‘Sobada’ Womb massage?

Sobada is a traditional therapeutic practice rooted in Curanderismo — the healing wisdom of Mesoamerican cultures (including Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and surrounding regions).

The word Sobada comes from the Spanish sobar, meaning "to knead or rub." This sacred touch therapy is typically received across three sessions during your menstrual cycle, allowing your body and womb to gradually open, release, and realign.

It’s a practice that helps you:
— Reconnect to your womb space
— Increase blood and lymph circulation
— Release stored tension and emotional imprints
— Awaken your feminine creative energy
— Restore your inner waters, emotions, and flow

This work is deeply energetic as much as physical. It supports the water element, which governs emotions, softness, and creativity.

The womb is a sacred vessel, holding the energetic imprints, patterns, and wisdom passed down through generations. It carries the potential for profound transformation and healing, connecting us to our ancestral heritage to rewrite our stories.

Healing for the lineage

In shamanic and curanderismo traditions, it is said that unresolved emotional pain is passed down from womb to womb — from one egg to the next. This continues until one woman in the lineage chooses to face the pain, transform the story, and become the medicine her ancestors were waiting for.

You are that woman.

FAQ

  • A womb massage is ideally received between menstrual cycles—starting about two days after bleeding ends, and stopping around two days before your next period begins.

This gives us a window of about three weeks to work with, allowing for one massage per week within a woman’s natural rhythm.

  • Deep healing occurs when we work in harmony with our natural cycle.

It is recommended to schedule three massages throughout your menstrual cycle, once a week.

Receiving womb massages in a set of three sessions during a woman’s menstrual cycle is ideal for perceiving changes within your biology and energetic field.

Like any other practice, a single massage can be very nurturing; however, if you have a specific intention, I recommend completing the full set of three massages and then continuing as needed to receive the full benefits of womb massage.

During these three sessions, you will receive a massage of the lower sacral/abdominal area and lower back/sacrum using organic sesame seed oil infused with Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris).

  • No, the benefits of womb massage can only be experienced when received between menstrual cycles, when you are not bleeding. Please wait one or two days after your last cycle before getting your womb massage.

If you are NO LONGER MENSTRUATINGAny time of the month is good to start.

  • A shawl or scarf will be needed to wrap around you, and it's important to keep your lower belly as warm as possible for the rest of the day—After your womb massage session, your pelvic area and sacral region will feel very warm.

“I started to receive womb massages with Vanessa after doing a closing cycle ceremony with her. I feel so at ease in her presence and the womb massages have created a clearing in me and a stronger connection to my body. As women, we are never taught how to nurture and care for our wombs and it’s such an important thing for us. Vanessa has taught me how healing, important and needed it is. I feel completely safe, comfortable and cared for during our sessions. It has been an amazing addition to my self care routine”
